Whilst the playing fields of Abberley remain silently frozen the Subbuteo Table Football Activity on a Friday evening has been buzzing. The game is played on a baze cloth with minature figures which are propelled by flicking. When a goal is scored the Match of the Day theme tune is played in celebration. In the first round matches we had Arsenal (Jo H.) drawing 1-1 with Shrewsbury (Oliver T.) and Liverpool (George S.) beating Chelsea (Oscar S.). Thrills, spills, oohs and aahs ring out as the ball pings from plastic player to plastic player. Arsenal (Jo H.) are top of the league at present on goal difference having subjected Chelsea to a 3-0 defeat in the second round matches. Liverpool (George S.) were kept to a 1-1 draw by a keen Shrewsbury side ( Oliver T.) and keep second spot but Chelsea have yet to score a point...relegation candidates? Aston Villa (Oliver S.) and Wolves (Will B) have yet to play and Hereford United are poised to enter the competition........it's always exciting when the big teams join the fray!!
