A flurry of goals and a well needed confidence boost for the As before half term.

U13A v Winterfold

Playing at Stourport Hockey Club, Abberley had the opportunity to really show off their skills today and there were some super moments of hockey where the girls were able to string together a series of passes around the pitch resulting in a well worked-goal. The Winterfold goalkeeper was kept very busy and she made many great saves. However, Poppy and Issy each had hatricks either side of half time – Issy’s first goal was lifted beautifully from a tight angle up into the net in the right hand corner above the goalie. Once we were 3-0 up we started to move the girls’ positions around. Whilst we re-organised ourselves Winterfold got back into the game and managed to score off the break. In the second half Abberley went down to 6 players with one player rotating off for a rest. We also moved our attack into defence and vice versa. Immy had a great half as centre-forward and did really well to look for passes around the D. Grace had had many chances but finally got some power and precision on the ball and got her name on the score sheet. Winterfold had their opportunities and Evelyn made some good saves; one up high off her stick and in another she had to change direction quickly to clear the baseline. Charlée worked hard up the left and Rachel also had a good game. The final score was 7-2 to Abberley and we then enjoyed match tea in the club house.
