Abberley 2nds back to winning ways against the Elms.
After a hat-trick of tries for Hector and one each for Lysander and Archie, Abberley 2nd XII can feel very proud of themselves. Some 'proper' tackling from the likes of Ben E, Henry, Kit, Ruben and Will made it very difficult for a spirited Elms team to get over the gain line, whilst aggressive rucking from Abberley's forwards meant that they found it equally difficult to hold onto possession. Having said that, only one try separated the two sides at the end of the first half. Pressure built upon the Elms in the second period, however, especially as they shuffled their pack. A succession of well-worked tries from Abberley threatened to overwhelm them, but they held on to their discipline and managed to score themselves towards the end. Victory for Abberley always seemed to be on the cards though, largely because of stirling efforts from the pack, quick service from Daniel who was playing at nine, Lysander's silky running, which was supplemented by Ben's direct lines and Hector's finishing speed. Freddie worked hard in the engine room, turning over lots of ball and making some big tackles, making him a contender for man-of-the-match, but that award rightly belongs to Hector for his three scintillating tries.
