CBSO Children’s Chorus
ANOTHER REMARKABLE SUCCESS
After our very successful association with the CBSO (City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra) Children’s Chorus over the past four years, when we heard that they were looking to recruit singers we decided to ‘have a go’ again. Established as one of the country’s leading youth choruses, the Children’s Chorus perform independently as well as with the CBSO and many other prestigious orchestras and choirs. This is an exciting chance for pupils to be trained by top professionals and to sing with one of the leading symphony orchestras of the world and is also the perfect way for young singers to meet new people and make new friends whilst enhancing their musical education.
Pupils who fulfilled the criteria went to the CBSO Centre in Birmingham and took part in an informal audition. They were asked to perform one prepared piece from memory and then had some ear tests to assess musicianship and responsiveness.
I’m delighted to write that the following pupils from Abberley have been chosen :-
J Bach, S Branston, G Cooper, B Evriviades, I Hayward, L Jackson, E Kenrick, L Marsden-Smedley, A Shuttleworth & S Symons
Rehearsals are on a Monday evening during term time from September at the CBSO Centre and we are all greatly looking forward to this exciting challenge and to another year of fantastic music-making.
The CBSO wrote “I would like to take this opportunity to say well done and thank you to everyone who attended the audition for the Children’s Chorus for the coming season. The standard of applicants this year has been extremely high ……
Congratulations to you all!
Another fantastic achievement.
