Colts A at the Elms VIIs
For all the other teams at the Elms VIIs, they had been at school for a few days and returned to the organised sport in the first week of the school year. For the Abberley boys, they were merely getting off their sunbeds, gobbling down their last paella and strolling out for a bit of rugby before term had even begun.
Nevertheless, the Abberley team played with an intensity that was a real step up from the U10 rugby that they had played last year. Against a side that had beaten them comfortably last year (St. Albans) they lost 2-1 and it was a really close affair. Beating Monmouth and the Downs showed that the team was up for the battle. In their last game, despite going into half-time 3-0 down, the boys fought back and a 4-2 loss showed that they would never give up the fight.
Well done to all the boys - we look forward to a season in which we compete for every game.
