Colts A Hockey @ Malvern College

Storm Gareth was fortunately on its way out as we arrived at Malvern College’s astro this afternoon. The boys were feeling the chill of the wind but soon forgot all about it as their first of 5 16 minute matches got under way. Abberley put up a brave fight against the Elms, only going down 3-0 despite sustaining a lot of pressure. Ed made some brilliant saves throughout the afternoon and Harry and Duncan worked really hard in defence. Our second match was against Lucton and Abberley really got into their stride. Oscar scored three times, the first being a rather impressive reverse stick strike 1m from the baseline. Rufus was well positioned on the right post to volley in another great cross from Oscar and after several close efforts Ed got on the end of a well worked team effort to give Abberley a 5-0 win. Match 3 was against Blue Coat; a very even game but Blue Coat nipped in front, Abberley dug deep and Oscar scored a much-deserved equaliser. Wallace proved very useful in the middle of the pitch and put the opposition under a lot of pressure. Next was another tough match against The Downs Malvern and despite playing their best hockey the final score was 0-3. In the final game against Moor Park, Guy made some good runs up the wing and worked hard to feed the ball up to Oscar. Abberley went 1-0 down but won a short corner in the second half which Harry executed beautifully to award Abberley with another draw.
