Great Witley Carol Services

You are warmly invited to join us for our annual traditional carol services which are, once again, being held in the beautiful baroque church at Great Witley. We are grateful for the help shown to us by the Parish and English Heritage.

The Chapel Choir will sing carols from the early 1300’s to the present day and will include compositions by Malcolm Archer, Gustav Holst, John Joubert and Ralph Vaughan Williams, amongst others.

The Junior Choir will sing the ‘Cowboy Carol’ and the ever-popular ‘Ragtime Carol’ and will join with the Chapel Choir for a number of items.

There are over 90 children taking part!

The Services will be accompanied by Trumpets and Organ and rousing congregational carols include ‘Once in Royal’, O little town of Bethlehem’, Hark! the herald’ and ‘O come, all ye faithful’ amongst others.

The first Service starts promptly at 4:30pm on Thursday 8th December.

It is very much hoped that all Day Children and Parents along with any visitors and will attend this service.

Please use the unmade lane leading to the church and park where directed by stewards

Please bring a torch, sturdy footwear and a coat in case of rain for the walk between car and church.

The second Service is on Saturday 10th December at 11:30a.m.

This Service is only for Boarders and their Parents.

It is very important to use the English Heritage entrance and the parking area. Please go through the Visitors Centre and see Mrs Beer and you will not be charged for entry. It is good to allow at least 12 minutes to walk through the grounds and please remember a coat for the walk between car and church.

Please DO NOT use or park in the unmade lane leading to the church, as this is constantly used by large farm vehicles and must not be blocked by private cars.

Please arrive early at both services to ensure a seat!

We look forward to seeing you.

Term ends after the Carol Service on Saturday.
