Lunchtime Concert 11th November
11th November, 2016
On Armistice Day, the 11th November we presented our fourth Lunchtime Concert of this term.
It was a very varied and hugely enjoyable programme. All the children (all 14 of them) performed really well and to a larger than usual and very appreciative audience.
The programme was as follows :-
Cellini (Anastasia E, George R, Freddie T & Frances T-T) got us off to a rhythmical and rousing start by playing “The Ghost” by T. Wells using their ‘cellos in different and interesting ways.
Anastasia E then gave a beautiful and confident performance of “Lullaby” by J. Brahms
Harry A-J then woke us all up with a splendidly rousing account of “When the Saints“ on the trumpet
Matilda D got our feet tapping with a rhythmical and jolly account of “Pig Ankle Rag” on the violin
Bea S gave a beautifully poised and gentle account of “Falling Leaves” by K. Nystedt on the piano
Lysander M-E kept us in the seasonal mood with a delightful performance of “Autumn” by A. Vivaldi showing real shape and style on the flute
Sebastian T then gave us a poignant account when singing ”Ave Maria” by J. S. Bach and arranged by Gounod
Matilda M kept the composer theme going by playing a really buoyant performance of “The Pipers are coming” after J. S. Bach on the piano
We then had a real treat as Cameron E played “When I am laid in earth” by H. Purcell with beautiful sonority of tone and musical understanding on the oboe
Rachel E got our minds thinking of sunshine, sea and sangria (for the adults, you understand) by playing “Sérénade Espagnole” by J. Ferrer with real rhythmical verve and splendid attention to detail
Hannah H brought the concert to a jolly conclusion by a very proficient and sparkling performance of “Dancing in the rain” by G. Lyons on the flute.
The final Lunchtime Concert of this term is the fantastic and eagerly awaited Christmas Lunchtime Concert on Friday 2nd December at 1:35pm.
We look forward to seeing you!
