Lunchtime Concert Friday 13th January

Lunchtime Concert - Friday 13th January, 2017

On a cold and blustery 13th January it was warm in the Ashton Hall where we presented our first Lunchtime Concert of this term, the New Year and at the new time of 1:40pm. It was a short, varied and highly enjoyable programme and all the children performed especially well and to a high standard, lifting our spirits and warming the cockles on a chilly day.

The programme was as follows :-

The Brass Group: (Rachel E, Leo J, Ruben K, Edward R-D, Arabella S, Leo W & Hugo W) got us off to a jolly start with ‘Swing Street’ by D. Schaeffer and well done Mr T for getting the ensemble ‘up to scratch’ so quickly!

Henry C sang a clear, cheery and amusing rendition of ‘The Frog’ by N. Perry

Emma C played a gentle performance of ‘The Rocking Horse’ by C. Gurlitt on the piano

Oscar N made us smile with a rhythmic and well-projected performance of ‘Shortnin’ Bread’

Lana K played ‘Down in a Coal Mine’ by J. Schaum on the piano with assurance and sensitivity

James B delighted us all when he sang a splendidly buoyant performance of ‘Windy Nights’ by C. V. Stanford and

Louisa M-S brought the concert to a brilliant climax with technical wizardry on the flute with a bouncy ‘Allegro’ from ‘Sonata in F major’ by G. F. Handel played with great panache.

The next Lunchtime Concert is on Friday 3rd February

We look forward to seeing you!
