Lunchtime Concert Friday 2nd February

On the 2nd February we presented our second Lunchtime Concert of this Spring Term.

52 pupils took part in a splendidly varied programme, which was brilliantly performed and was listened to and much enjoyed by a large and appreciative audience

The programme was as follows :-

The String Ensemble got us off to a fantastic start with a compelling account of Monty Normans’ great ‘James Bond’ theme tune.

Molly W gave a confident and flowing account of ‘Shooting the Rapids’ by J. Bastien on the piano.

Harry G gave a splendidly rhythmic and dynamically varied performance of ‘SR1’  by I. Wright on the Timpani.

Lily W gave a very jolly performance of ‘Old MacDonald’ on the Piano

Rosie C then played ‘Tap Dancer’ by D. Blackwell on the ‘cello in a brave and bold unaccompanied performance

Senna McG-C made his debut in these concerts by playing ‘The Train’ by J. Thompson. He’s one to watch out for!

Toby D took us back to the Timpani with an interesting piece called ‘Fourth Beat’ by G. Whaley which Toby played with delicate hands and good musicianship.

Lewis L followed with a charming and fluent performance of ‘Little Tune’ for the piano by D. Kabalevsky and played with confidence and made a really beautiful sound.

Sophie A then played a short and sweet piece on the violin called ‘Cowboy Chorus’ by S. Nelson using lots of bow and playing with poise.

Matilda M gave a spirited and enjoyable performance of the tricky ‘Spooks’ by J. Bastien on the piano.

Inspired by a recent concert visit to see a fantastic percussionist, William R gave an inspired and assured performance of ‘Allegretto’ by I. Wright on the Timpani

‘Billy’ H exquisitely played the second movement of ‘Sonata in C’ J-B. Breval, on the ‘Cello, showing many expressive qualities and then the ever-jolly

Junior Choir sang ‘The Keeper’ and ‘Snakes’ by P. Jenkyns, filling the hall with splendidly clear words and a lovely sound and they obviously enjoyed every minute of their performance as we did!

The next Lunchtime Concert is on Friday 9th March at 1:40pm

We look forward to seeing you!
