Lunchtime Concert on Friday 13th October
On the 13th October we presented our second Lunchtime Concert of this Michaelmas/Autumn Term. A splendidly varied programme, which was beautifully performed by predominantly younger members of the school, was listened to and much enjoyed by a large and appreciative audience.
The programme was as follows :-
Tobias B got us off to a firm start with a splendid rendition of ‘The Golden Bullet’ by G. Double on the Drum Kit
Molly W gave a gentle and waltzing performance of ‘The Skater’ by J. Thompson on the Piano
With a sparkling French Horn, James B gave an assured account of ‘My Lady’s Pavan‘ by P. Sparke showing real control
Daisy C followed with a sprightly and nimble performance of G. Verdi’s ‘La Donna é mobile’ on the piano
The mighty Brass Group (Harry A-J, Rachel E, Macy O’N & Leo W) followed with a bold account of ‘I vow to thee, my country’ by G. Holst
Tobias D charmed us with his own composition called ‘The Triangle’ on the Drum Kit (which didn’t use a triangle!) but used many softer qualities of the kit
Molly A got our feet tapping with a jolly and jaunty ‘Drunken Sailor’ on the flute, who wasn’t unsteady at all!
Harry A-J put down his trumpet to give a fine, bold and rhythmic performance of ‘Come on, Rangers’ by G. Rossini on the piano
Another composer in the making, Charlie M made us all sit up and take notice with his own enthralling account ‘Lightening Flash’
Matilda D gave a sonorous and very enjoyable account of ‘Over the Rainbow’ by H. Arlen & Y. Harburg on the violin and
just in case you were having those Friday afternoon feelings, our junior singers, ‘Quavers’, got us laughing and smiling with a jolly performance of ‘Pirates’ by L. Marsh which they all enjoyed performing and got us to afternoon school with a spring in our step.
The next Lunchtime Concert is on Friday 10th November at 1:40pm
We look forward to seeing you!
