U10 v Moor Park
What a cold, blustery start to the season! The girls did a good job of moving around to try and stay warm, but it was still pretty chilly, a good thing they had their skins on.
For our first match they played as a squad of 11, moving positions in each quarter to get a feel for which combinations work well and who is more defensively minded when playing, or attacks well or is an all-rounder.
The first quarter had five attempts on goal with Monica and Scarlet both getting the target once each. Sophie worked the court well at centre and Anastasia made some great interceptions and worked into space at WD.
In the second quarter both Darcey and Rosie scored and the centre court players, of Tilda M, Matilda D and Anastasia worked hard to keep possession. The cold was setting in at this point and they were beginning to struggle to keep hold of the ball as it was passed to them. Tilda showed great energy on court for making interceptions.
In the third quarter Moor Park equalized to bring it to 4 all. Scarlet worked well at GK, sticking to her player. Rosie trialled centre and kept the game moving around her. Monica made some excellent runs from GA but we struggled to then keep the ball and get it into the D.
In the final quarter, Matilda D and Tilda M worked well at the back with Matilda making many interceptions. Moor Park had luck on their side, scoring twice more before the final whistle.
It was an excellent first game, with a lot of positives. They worked well into space and their footwork was really quite good.
Final Score: Abberley 4-6 Moor Park
