U11 Hockey v MSJ
From the off this was a fast paced match. The girls had to work very hard to keep possession as any little mistake let MSJ in and they were off down the pitch and making our defence work hard. When we were in the D we had many shots on goal and Alex scored but just before the whistle in the first half MSJ equalised.
Half time proved useful as they identified what they needed to work on, Livvy moved up to centre forward for a bit and Eleni strengthened defence. The aim was not to allow them into the D.
The second half was almost as frantic but the girls used the full width of the pitch and made MSJ work to retrieve the ball. Kitty sent a ball hurtling across the D and Bea pushed it in for an exciting second goal. Again MSJ equalised and then went one up. Alex scored a third goal off a short corner. In the dying moments of the match MSJ went one ahead again. It was a very well matched game with equal possession being held by both teams.
Final score: Abberley 3-4 MSJ
Under 11B Hockey v MSJ
We left School in freezing fog and emerged in beautiful sunshine in Malvern. The girls were very excited to play Malvern St James. I was thrilled to be able to see them all play again and see just how much they have developed. I took them to Cheltenham Tournament at the start of the season. Then to be there for their last match of the season felt really special. I wasn’t disappointed!
The game was often fast and we had some accurate passing. When we spaced out the team looked really dominant.
Many of the team tried different positions today with wings dropping back to defend and the defence going up front. Olivia H was always there ready to assist getting the ball up the pitch. Ellie was thrilled to score, two from Rosie and one from Neeko resulted in a 4-0 win. Izzy coped well in goal and made two super saves. Lilly R was very focused in defence and rarely let any ball get into the D. She hit the ball so hard today her stick broke!
Eliyah used her skills well when on the wing today and helped move the ball up towards our goal. She was always looking for the pass but on two occasions so nearly scored! Elodie worked so hard throughout the match and again almost scored! When she went into defence she really rose to the challenge and played superbly.
Well done everyone. Win 4-0
