U11A v RGS (H)

The match started with a heavy air of competition, the ball moved back and forth with both teams playing nice hockey. RGS had the majority of the attacking play, and eventually their positional play in the D lead to a good goal. We quickly reset, and with excellent defending from Frances and Emily we moved the ball into attack. A few minutes later Isabella hit a beautiful ball from the left side of the D to level the score. Unfortunately this level of score didn't last long, we lost the ball to RGS's centre midfield and she quickly capitalised on the turnover to put them ahead again 2-1 at half time.

In the second half we were far more cohesive and energetic, we were clearly getting the better of RGS with more possession in our attacking D, and lots of chances not quite making the mark. Isabella eventually put an excellent cross in which Bella turned in from the P spot the level 2-2. We continued to pressure and it looked like the score would stay level with Emily blocking every attack that was made up the left wing. Eventually however, RGS's midfielder came into play again gaining possession just outside the D on two occasions, which both resulted in her with a one on one with Beth, and although Beth tried her hardest to cover the shots; the second time actually taking out the player in her attempted save, both ended up in the goal.

An excellent game of hockey from both sides, although an unfortunate loss for Abberley 4-2.
