U13 girls v Droitwich Cricket Club

This is a slightly guilty match report, with the girls having played two matches this season and the boys not able to get one match in yet.

With the sun shining, Abberley welcomed our favourite match of the season. It is the one game when the girls get to play 'proper' cricket, as a girls team, together. We put them into bat and our opening bowlers demonstrated their skills, our fielding was tight and we restricted the visitors opportunities to score. Francis took the first wicket in the sixth over and then we started to take all the wickets at regular intervals: two run outs from excellent fielding from Emma and Bella, a caught and bowled by Lottie, another wicket to Francis. Droitwich put on a last stand but finished 78 all out.

Bella and Arabella opened against some very fast bowling, but Bella rose to the challenge and confidently set about chasing the total. Arabella lasted a couple of overs before being runout, then Emily supported Bella until falling to the 'proper' cricket law of lbw!! Lottie then steadied the ship and helped Bella onto her 31 (including five fours) until she was bowled by an excellent ball. Lottie left the wicket to an lbw and then Sylvie was bowled shortly afterwards. Emma and Kate now took the team to 79, with a solid batting performance and it took the team only 12 overs.
As everyone was enjoying the game, we bowled out the remaining overs and Kate gave the crowd some lovely fours, equalling Bella's haul, and it even allowed Francis to get in and face a couple of balls.

Well done girls; a fabulous display that reflected all your hard work in the winter nets with Mr Kennedy.
