U13 IAPS Tournament
The U13s travelled to Repton for the IAPS hockey tournament. This was such a great opportunity for the girls to play different schools and witness a high standard of hockey. We had a tough group with Foremarke Hall being our first opponents. After a long journey we were still a little sleepy and it wasn’t until the fourth quarter that we managed to progress into our attacking D. The girls showed great strength of character to then come back from a heavy defeat into the next match against Bilton Grange. This was a well fought match with action at both ends but Abberley played good hockey and scored twice to Bilton’s one. This gave the girls a real confidence boost going into our final group match against Yarlet. Abberley looked the stronger of the two teams here and were really starting to connect. We only managed to score twice despite lots of chances. Abberley were second in the group and through to the Cup competition – and only one more win from getting through to the Nationals. The play-offs were against St Hughs and this was another well-fought battle and the Abberley girls should be very proud of their efforts. St Hughs were the stronger side and had more reserves to bring on and freshen the legs. The final score was 2-0 to St Hughs who went on to win their semi-final and play Foremarke in the final.
