U13 XIII finish the season strongly in The Isle of Man
Report – U13 XIII v Isle of Man Rugby Tour
1-3 December 2017
The boys are all back safe and sound from what has been an excellent tour to the Isle of Man. It was very nice as staff to have so many complimentary comments about the boys about their rugby but also about their behaviour. A gentleman came and found me in the airport after the return flight asking me if I was in charge of the boys. My heart sank slightly but he said he just wanted to say how they were a credit to the school.
The trip started with a quick trip to the beach and a dip in the sea for a mad few. We then played some touch rugby as the light faded. Then to the sports hall, supper, a swim and a film before the boys settled into their two dorms.
We watched some of the Rugby league World cup final after breakfast and then had a stroll along the coast and a training session before lunch. We had three fantastic games against Castle Rushen, Packwood and King William's College. We lost 1-4, 3-4 and 3-4. The boys played some excellent rugby but were beaten by the odd individual. Bill H scored a great try in the first match and Douglas D was on fire back on home turf scoring two tries each against Packwood and King William's. Rory H was also playing powerfully scoring a try in the second and third games. These were the three strongest sides and the coaches commented that we had played the best rugby along with Packwood.
We took the public bus into Douglas for a fun pizza evening with King's Rochester. Today we won both of our matches against QE2 from the island and King's Rochester 4-2 and 4-3. Harry G, Kian H, Henry W and Bill H all scored tries and Sam B and Harvey P scored 2 tries each.
This was a great way to finish the regular season. There will be sevens for some next term and the South Africa tour to look forward to.
It was a pleasure to take the boys who made Mr Scott and I very proud in all they did.
