U13A Netball v Moor Park (A)
Moor Park started confidently with excellent movement and ball skills. We worked hard and also showed good skills particularly in defence where Poppy and Rachel made excellent interceptions and retained several rebounds. Moor Park were however dominant in the circle and scored most of the their opportunities. We struggled to get the ball to our shooters, and unfortunately any shots we did have were missed.
After the first quarter we trailed by 4-0, not a disaster, but we needed to get some goals to raise our hopes. The second quarter continued in a similar manner, good centre court play and excellent defence limited Moor Park to only three more goals, but we still could not score ourselves 7-0.
After half time we drafted Annabel in from the B team to give us some more height in the shooting circle. With some excellent coaching from her sister on the side-line she began to get the ball in a good location, and Julia also had a couple more shooting opportunities. We eventually scored our first goal, which was followed by a couple more in this quarter. We also kept Moor Park to only scoring one more goal, so we actually scored more than the opposition in this passage of play.
The final quarter was similar, we grew in confidence, acted on some of my advice, and Annabel popped in some excellent goals. We actually stopped any further scoring by Moor Park, and managed to add to our total. We didn't manage a strong enough come back to challenge for a win, but with a final score of 8-4, we had a far better second half.
