U13A v Cheltenham College
As the end of a very tough season draws near, we started our match against Cheltenham without our full A team. Arabella stepped up to play at WD, Charliée moved to GK and Poppy took a swap from defence to attack to play GA with Julia as GS. We started well with Poppy scoring our first goal, and Julia putting two more away. Cheltenham also played well and the score we 3-2 after the first quarter. At the start of the second quarter Cheltenham really improved and pulled away from us a bit, the girls didn't panic, and brought it back with more excellent shooting, and good defence from Charliée and Rachel. At half time we were still just one ahead 9-8.
In the third quarter we moved the ball about better and used some direct passes to our advantage and Julia's shooting helped us extend our lead to 18-12. Arabella played well as WD and offered lots of good passes on centre passes as well as during open play.
In the final quarter the game leveled out again and we fought hard with Imogen gaining some great balls in open play, and putting some good passes into the circle. Cheltenham actually pulled a goal back in this quarter, but we kept our heads to win 22-17. A tough and competitive match with some very nice netball played. It was brilliant to see them all adapt so well to people playing in unusual positions, but still being able to work as a team.
