U13A v Malvern College

This is one of my favourite fixtures of the season, with the Abberley girls pitting themselves against the older girls of Malvern College.

Malvern batted first and produced some impressive shots, particularly their opening batter. The strength of their stroke play meant that they found the boundary on too many occasions, with some of the Abberley girls reluctant to get grass stains on their knees!! As the score mounted we regularly took wickets with Bella taking the first, but the best bowling came from Francis and Arabella, who both took three wickets. After twenty overs Malvern were 102-8.

Abberley started the chase but lost Arabella early with a run-out. The bowling was quick and we struggled to get into a rhythm and then we lost Bella, who was caught out. Sylvie lost her wicket next and we looked like we were in trouble but Lottie and Emily came to rescue as they sensibly steadied the ship... batted sensibly and the runs started to flow. The opposition helped us with wides and no-balls but the winning runs came from this partnership: Lottie on 21 and Emily on 16.

Abberley finished on 104-3 off 17 overs. A well fought contest with a deserved victory to the home girls. Well done
