U13B Netball v Moor Park (A)
It was wonderful to have so many Abberley parents supporting us in our match against Moor Park today, it was a chilly afternoon but the U13B team were spurred on by the warmth of our support.
The first quarter was a closely contested battle with both teams making good interceptions and covering the ground well, possession fell in favour of Moor Park but good marking by Evelyn and interceptions by Mercedes kept the score low and the quarter finished with Abberley only trailing by one goal.
A switch around of positions in our attacking circle proved fruitful in the second quarter with Annabel scoring some excellent goals and Minty moving well to create space. In this quarter Elsa tried her hand at playing centre, she showed excellent ground coverage and a good awareness of what was happening around her. This was our strongest quarter, both teams scored three goals so the half time score was Abberley 3 Moor Park 4.
At this stage Annabel was drafted in by the A team so we welcomed Kate to our team. A further switch around saw Aggie moving to play as centre, Elsa trying her hand at WD and Grace returning to the court to play WA. The centre court players worked hard in this quarter to move in front of their players to get free for the ball rather than standing behind them. The accuracy of our passing let us down a bit though and Moor Park dominated this quarter, scoring three more goals.
The final quarter saw a real improvement in our game. Arabella worked very hard marking her opponent and overall the play was more equally shared. We had about the same number of shots on goal as Moor Park but only one of ours passed through the net whereas Moor Park scored a further three goals. At the end of this friendly and well fought match, the final score was Abberley 4, Moor Park 10.
