U13s v The Elms

The A's had a tough game despite the conditions, but we showed good character as we chased the game from the first centre. The Elms used their significant height advantage to pull away in the first quarter and took an early 6-4 lead. The next ten minutes saw the Abberley girls match the opposition, with Emma and Francis steadying the centre court. 7-10 at half time. The next quarter saw some excellent play from The Elms attack and despite Arabella and Bella taking some spectacular interceptions we fell further behind. The last quarter saw us fight back, Izzy, Emily and Kate managed to get a rhythm going and we slowly pulled the game back, but it was too late.

Final score: Abberley 14 - 17 The Elms

A very blustery game which had the ball flying all over but the girls kept their heads and made sure their passes were strong and fast. The Elms scored twice in quick succession and then Abberley dug deep and started to play some excellent netball. Leyre played at C and seemed to be popping up everywhere making interceptions. Daisy, Mercedes and Molly were very string in defence, not letting much get past them at all. Apolline and Minty shot very well and learnt to read the wind. By the third quarter we were well ahead with Lottie, Aggie and Alejandra all having played well in the centre court. A switch about in the final quarter allowed The Elms to get back into the game. Alejandra and Lottie were shooting and Alejandra shot 3 great goals. Apolline and Daisy did a good job in defence trying to keep possession and force the Elms to make errors. Overall, a fantastic game. Well done!

Final score: Abberley 16-13 Elms
