U9s v RGS
Today I had the pleasure again to coach the U9s. They have clearly made great progress since I last saw them and now play with such confidence. There were a few crowding issues but it was thrilling to see the girls work and fight so hard for the ball. Alice had a very quiet day in goal as unfortunately RGS didn’t quite manage to pressure our D. Freya worked hard in defence and tried to hold her position when she had a turn up the wing. Olivia H has really improved and was showing good stick skills. She fed a ball off the side-line into RGS’s D to set up Kitty for our first goal. The RGS goalie was kept busy and she had a great game with some super saves. However, Livvy, Jess and Kitty where persistent and determined and it was Jess who made it 2-0 before the first break. In the second third we moved positions around and Livvy worked well as centre-mid. Alex showed good support at the top of the defence. The rest of the girls did get a bit crowded at times and we did not manage to score. Kitty looked dangerous everytime she has the ball but she has a tendency to panic and shoot too early. However, after an orange and another shuffle of positions Abberley were back on top in the final third and Livvy scored a much deserved goal to secure the win. An exciting team and one to watch in the future!
