Under 11A at Shrewsbury School’s Tournament

It was really superb to see the team come together and show greater drive to get the ball through to the shooters. In the first match against Yarlett we were so thrilled and delighted to score 6 goals to their 3. This gave us 5 points for the win and they gained 3 points for having a score that was 50% of ours.

With great focus and determination we faced Prestfield who went on to become winners in our section. We lost 2-5 in this close game. They were undefeated and super oppponents.

After a careful check and recalculation it seemed that by one point we finished third in our section. This was so close to being second and going through to the semi finals! We had to watch Yarlett in the semi finals who we had beaten! We then had to go to the play offs for the plate competition where Packwood only just beat us 1-3.

Now for the important bits! Annabelle and Rosie were a super combination up front shooting. What an improvement from Annabelle moving up from the B team becoming a key player immediately in the A Team! Anastasia moved to WA and seemed to be a natural understanding where to place the ball for the shooters to receive it away from their defenders. Sophie playing C was nominated by the Shrewsbury Staff as the player of our team in this tournament. High praise indeed. They also went on to complement the whole team on their level of skill. Moving to the defence, there were a few different combinations today. Darcey thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to be in the A Team, moving up from the B’s for this tournament. Grace GK and Tilda GD were a tireless force who were so effective. This was truly exciting to watch as they made so many interceptions. Monica moved from GK to WD and only looked pleased once she had made an interception.

All the team needs now is to understand, winning is a habit. Netball is catching. Let’s go team.

It rained all the way there and then this brilliant sunshine causing the team to squint!
